Citi Credit Card Types
Citi has a variety of credit card offerings in Australia, which will save you money and which also offer lifestyle benefits for a range of needs. Save on credit card charges with a low rate card or one with no annual fees. Consolidate and pay off debt more quickly with a balance transfer card, and get points for your purchases with a frequent flyer or rewards card. You can also benefit from the first-rate, select add-ons that are part of the package when you get a Citi platinum or super-premium card. Citi also offers competitive lending terms when you apply for a line of credit.
Citi credit cards with no annual fee
Keep your costs low with a no annual fee Citi credit card whilst taking advantage of a variety of competitive features and free add-ons. If you clear your balance by the due date on your statement you'll also qualify for interest-free purchases.
Citi balance transfer cards
If you want to consolidate your personal loans with your credit card balances and other debt, Citi offers balance transfer
options. Citi is actually one of the only credit card providers in Australia that will allow you to balance transfer a personal loan to a credit card.
Citi Platinum cards
Visa Premium offers, concierge services, and complimentary insurance are just a few of the extra bonuses offered with Citi's array of platinum credit cards. You can enjoy a lifetime of no annual fees with Citi Simplicity or a reduced purchase rate with Citi Clear Platinum, in direct contrast to the majority of platinum credit cards, which tend to come with annual fees and high interest rates.
Citi frequent flyer cards
Citi has a range of credit cards associated with the Emirates or Qantas frequent flyer programs. Earn Skywards Miles with an Emirates Citi World Mastercard, or you can get points on your purchases with a Citi Qantas Signature Credit Card. Alternatively, you can opt for a Prestige card with Citi Qantas Rewards. Free add-ons also include airport lounge passes and travel insurance intended for cardholders who are also frequent travellers.
Citi’s Ready Credit Line
Citi Ready Credit is a personal loan that works somewhat like a credit card. It offers the option for you to do a balance transfer, and you get a line of credit with fixed or variable rate terms. You also get a Visa card with it, which you can use for over the counter and online purchases, and for ATM withdrawals. Use the account whenever you need it: Citi offers you flexible repayment terms. You can continue to use the card even after you’ve repaid the debt.
Citi premium and black credit cards
Citi’s super premium offering is the Prestige Card which has features and benefits that rival those of black credit cards. The extras that you get with these high-end credit cards come at a price: Premium cards usually have the highest annual fee.
Advantages of doing business with Citi in Australia
You’ll enjoy a variety of unique benefits if you get a Citi credit card. The more popular ones include:
The option to earn more points with the Citi bonus partners program
You can earn one-and-a-half rewards points for every dollar you spend at one of Citi’s bonus partners, once you’re the holder of a Citi rewards credit card. Individual bonus partners vary across states, with shopping categories ranging from leisure and entertainment to shopping and travel. Partners include Red Balloon, Europcar, and Park Regis Hotels.
Complimentary wine from the Citibank Dining Program
The Citibank Dining program is open to all Citi cardholders, and when you dine at partner restaurants nationwide, you get a bottle of award-winning wine. Just let the server know that you’ll be using a Citi credit card to pay for your meal, and you can select your choice of red or white wine from the restaurant's collection.
Balance transfer cards that allow you to move personal loan debt
Other banks only allow you to transfer credit card debt. With Citi you can move your balance from a line of credit, personal loan, or overdraft account to a credit card. Have a store card or charge card? Citi allows you to transfer that too. Citi offers some great balance transfer options that will enable you to save interest and clear off your debts more quickly.
Applying for a Citi credit card
Compare your credit card options in order to find the one that best suits your needs and budget. Check to see if you qualify for the type of card you’re interested in, and then click "Go to Site," which will take you to a secure online application. The application is simple, and will take around ten minutes to complete. The bank responds with the status of your application within a minute or two.
What documents do you need when you apply?
Accelerate the application process and increase the odds of success by having the following documents and details ready before you begin:
- Details of Employment. Your salary, job title, years of service with and contact details for your present employer should all be included in your application. You may also be required to present current paystubs as supplementary documentation. You may have to send your current tax statement and contact information for your accountant if you’re self-employed.
- Personal details. These include full name, date of birth, residential address (if you’ve moved recently you’ll also need evidence for where you previously lived), and telephone contact numbers.
- Financial information. Give evidence of your assets, income, and your employer’s contact details. Liabilities and expenses such as loan payments, other credit cards, and child support payments should also be listed. The number of the account you’d like to transfer from and the amount of funds you wish to move to the Citi credit card should also be included.
What will happen next?
A representative will contact you to let you know if the bank requires more information. Before you submit your application, ensure that all your contact details are accurate and check your spam or junk mail folder to see if any relevant communication ended up in there. You can also phone Citi to be updated on your application status.
If you’re new to Citi, the bank will require an ID check once your application is approved. Copies of government-issued ID such as your passport or driver’s license must be provided. Once this is sent in, you can activate and start using your new credit card from Citi.
